I-Biostat Teaching

Education and dissemination

I-BioStat is deeply involved in the organization and implementation of master level education in biostatistics, statistical bioinformatics, and statistical methodology in epidemiology and public health. Furthermore, the institute has extensive duties in teaching statistics and probability in a variety of programs at both UHasselt and K.U.Leuven.
Members of the institute hold positions as guest lecturers in other universities, both in Belgium and abroad.

Short courses have been offered worldwide for academic partners, professional and learned societies, the industry, and governmental agencies.

The institute prides itself in a variety of teaching awards that have been granted to its members. To underscore the importance of teaching in statistics, the “Herman Callaert Leadership Award in Statistical Education and Dissemination” was established in 2003.
